My job is mobile and I split my time working alternate weeks in Norfolk and Nottinghamshire. I drive down country roads, enjoying rural England through the seasons.

The Silver Swan

"The silver swan, who living had no note,
When death approach'd, unlocked her silent throat;
Leaning her breast against the reedy shore,
Thus sung her first and last, and sung no more.
Farewell , all joys; O Death, come close mine eyes;
More geese than swans now live, more fools than wise."

Orlando Gibbons

He was a composer/musician in the court of King James 1.

  1. That's very sad. And I can just hear the music accompanying it - a bit of Dowland or something.
